Everything runs in your browser. Files are not uploaded.
About this conversion
The files inside stay exactly the same; only the container changes, for example so the archive opens without extra software.
Good to know
All files are unpacked and packed again; their contents stay identical byte for byte.
Password-protected archives cannot be converted.
7z archives can be read here, but not created.
Modification dates of the files cannot be read from this format; the repacked files get the current time.
How it works
libarchive, compiled to WebAssembly and loaded only when needed, unpacks the archive; it is then packed again in a background thread on your device.
Your browser can
- Built-in image codecs
- Hardware video (WebCodecs)
- Multiple threads
- Create AVIF natively
If something is missing, the conversion takes a little longer but still works.
About 7z (7-Zip archive)
7z is the archive format of 7-Zip and compresses very strongly with LZMA2, at the cost of needing extra software.
- Large downloads and mod packs
- Long-term archives
- Sending big folders as small as possible
About ZIP archive
ZIP is the most widely supported archive format; Windows, macOS, Linux and phones open it without extra software.
- Opens on every system out of the box
- Each file is compressed separately, so single files can be extracted fast
- Good for email attachments and downloads

Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser with local code. Your files never leave your device, and there is no upload.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no limit on our side, but your browser memory is. Images work for very large files; for videos, files above a few hundred megabytes can fail on devices with little memory.
Will the quality suffer?
That depends on the target format and settings. Use the quality option to balance size and detail; lossless targets keep everything the source contained.
Which browsers are supported?
Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Fast hardware paths are used where available, with a compatible fallback otherwise.
